A Thousand Thanks

Here’s something fun to do during the holidays. Make a list of a thousand things you’re thankful for. You think it’s easy? Not really. Give it a try. Compare your list with others and copy & paste it here.

As you do your list you’ll find yourself thinking of another list, all of those people that made the first list possible.
And so on & so on.

But ultimately you’re going to run into a tough spot. Because even though you thank your parents (and theirs, and theirs) for Life you know that none of their lives were given by another human being. All of the things that “worked out somehow” didn’t & couldn’t have “just happened.” Ultimately you’ll recognize a loving GOD behind it all: circumstances, successes, family, friends…even the spark of life that was passed to you. It’s all a gift to thank GOD for.

Even the worst stuff in the world, you’ll find is just the concave backside of the convex & impossibly too complex to comprehend surface of GOD’s love for you.

All things were made by & for and are held together in JESUS Christ. And in His Love, He gives it all to us, if we will only believe & accept it of Him. Because JESUS provides it all for you, now & forever, you have nothing to do but thank & love Him for it. You have a thousand ways to express your gratitude to & for Him & others in words & actions. And ten thousand upon ten thousand million years to tell Him just how thankful you are.

Hymn: Bless the LORD O My Soul

Psalm 103, verses 1-5

Of David.

“Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-

Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s…”
